After several months of using Twitter, I try to sign in this morning to find that my Twitter account has been suspended. While I can access my account, there is ominous message “This account is currently suspended and is being investigated due to strange activity.”
Well, I am not sure what they consider “strange activity” but if using Twitter like it was mean to be used is strange activity then I guess suspending my Twitter account was in order. I have not spammed anyone, I have not violated Twitter’s terms of service and I can find no other reason why the account has been suspended.
The Twitter status page shows this “Accounts affected by the “best video” exploit have been suspended for cleanup and will be restored shortly. Don’t worry, they’ll be back! ” but I have yet to have any notification as to why Twitter suspended my account.
Right now I will wait for a response back from Twitter to determine why they have suspended my account. I have rarely had any luck in this regard, and as for Twitter – well if my account remains suspended, I may be looking for alternatives.
I have opened a support ticket regarding the suspension but the email that I received indicated that I may be 30 days receiving a response about the issue I’m experiencing. Twitter has grown considerably and if this will indeed take 30 days to resolve, I most definitely will be looking for Twitter alternatives.

I’ve run into the same issue Barry. June 29th my account was suspended and the traffic to my eco-social experiment website crashed. I opened a ticket and have absolutely no response from them. I don’t sell anything and haven’t Tweeted about anyone’s get rich quick schemes.
Sigh….

I had thee exact same thing happen to me. I have no idea why either. I also rarely access or use Twitter.
After spending time and money on my twitter name i got suspended for no reason that i can tell.
Well I spent day after day posting a message out for people to come to my website which is a music site. I thought, well put in the work to let people know, twitter is free wow and I can advertise. Well seems like they didn’t like it and I was suspended. Perhaps if there was a way to advertise with Twitter by paying $$ they would not have minded. Oh wait, maybe that is the direction they are going next. No more free Twitter? I’m sure if you show Twitter the money you can almost do anything you want in the future.
Interesting story. Thanks for sharing!
