5 Tips for Beginning Bloggers

Why did you start blogging?

If you are like many other beginner bloggers you wanted to make money from your blogging efforts.  In order to make money from a blog, you need readers.  The more readers you have, the more potential you have to convert them into a revenue stream.

However, now that you are blogging you are finding it difficult to build your momentum and attract readers to your site.

Here are 5 tips for beginning bloggers to help you start Blogging for Success.

  1. Be consistent with your posting.
Readers come to your site to read the content you are publishing.  When a blog has not been updated for some time, it creates the impression of being an inactive blog.  Readers will eventually stop visiting.  Be consistent when publishing content to your site.  Establish a schedule and let your readers know when you will be publishing new content.
  2. Engage your readers
Some readers will leave comments on your blog.  Use this as an opportunity to make your readers feel welcomed to your blog.  The more you engage your readers, the more likely they are to return to your site.  Use your social network connections to connect with and build relationships with your readers as well.
  3. Limit the length of your post
Readers do not want to read 3000 word posts.  Limit the length of your post to between 500 – 1000 words.  Where appropriate use lists and subheadings.
  4. Use photos and video in your posts
Photos and video adds as little bit of spice to your blog posts where appropriate.  Most readers are visual and the occasional photo will break up the monotony of a post filled with text.
  5. Avoid using excessive ads
Many beginner bloggers start out wanting to make money from their blog.  Every piece of blank blog real estate becomes filled with Google Adsense Ads, banner ads or affiliate ads.  This creates the impression being desperate and will actually harm your blog’s credibility.

Combining these 5 tips for beginning bloggers with quality content will help you build and keep many of the readers who visit your blog.
